It’s a “Lotus 7” style “clubman” that is definitely NOT a “kit car”. I constructed it from scratch, based on the “Locost” sports car design in Ron Champion’s book “Build Your Own Sports Car - for as little as £250”. Locost This project is based on a Champion Motorcar Co., CMC, Miata kit. It was not a complete kit but just a frame, control arms, sheet aluminum, fenders, and a scuttle. I opted to use a different engine than the Miata 1.8. What's a Locost, you might ask. It's a stand-back-and-squint-kinda-replica of a Lotus 7; cute name selected by Ron Champion, whose book Build Your Own Sports Car for as Little as £250 (hey, he's British) has been rocketing up the charts and stimulating cottage industries for the last decade.
